Culture is the key differentiator between Corporations. It is directly linked to effectiveness and driven by transformational leaders.
Many types of corporate cultures exist under different labels, here are six examples:
Values-Based Culture: focus on performance (mission statement and core values).
Caring Culture: focus on serving people (e.g. municipal, health and social services).
Integrative Culture: equal focus on performance and people (considered more effective).
Compliance Culture: adherence to legislation, regulatory rules and requirements.
Health Culture: focus on the health, wellness and well-being of employees.
Innovation Culture: tied to an organization’s innovation strategy (e.g. incremental process improvement).
Each organization is built upon a “set” of corporate cultures. The layering and interplay of corporate cultures results in conflicts for time and priority. Corporate culture and strategy are the two levers that drive future viability of an organization. An intentional focus on building the right corporate culture is pivotal; culture trumps strategy. Corporate culture fits with complexity science, when depicted as a complex system of interactions between humans, functions, processes and technology that continually evolve - for better or worse.
Case study research underscores the critical role of corporate culture in enabling creativity and major innovation and is described as “the secret sauce” that is somewhat elusive and challenging to identify and measure. Cinder to Flame helps Corporations solve complex challenges with strategic services that energize people, fuel a healthy corporate culture and ignite major innovation.
There are multiple facets of a healthy corporate culture and Cinder to Flame performs a specialized operational review to identify the current state of corporate health and capacity for major innovation. Findings are detailed in a culture metrics report, one of Cinder to Flame’s service deliverables.
